This is my first hand experience of my races with 450r's. My Raptor with pipe/jet, 450r had slip-on pipe. Race was even until I hit 5th, then I pulled away. Raced against a 450r with HRC kit & Curtis Sparks full exhaust. 450r put a whipping on me really bad. Very impressed with the 450r with HRC kit & Curtis sparks full exhaust. no lt250r the 450 tops out at about 79 the raptor does not go 83.

 

No TrXFoFiddyR the 450r does not go 79 mph. More like 73,74...the rappy could pull 80mph just needs gearing changes and a pipe.

 

o well sorry about that i guess i should have said that dirt wheels gps'ed a stock 450r and it went 78.9 mph so ya blame them not me.

 

It's very close to 80... not 73, 74 STOCK... when you drop the tooth more like 73, 74

only way to know is try it yourself, otherwise you get different opinions and results online

With out a doubt, no problem, just like the raptor was standing still... Be it on sand, track, mountains... drag strip,, it does not matter...

I have only had it out twice. Once at Little Sahara, Utah,, I only used up to 1/2 throttle or so.. Never made any hard runs, But,... I thought the suspension was a bit twitchy on the sand. Could be my settings. I will continue to adjust it.. Power seems great.. for what I did that day.. Ergonomics are about as close the the 400ex as I have seen in a quad. I really like the 400ex feel.. That is one of the things that sold me on the raptor 700r.... It did not feel tippy on the dunes even on off camber settings..

The second trip, was out to the west desert out of SLC. Desert and Mountain trails.. I did open it up more this day toward the end. It clearly has exceptional power and pulls extremely well low and mid. It does have good top end. I did open it up on the flats a couple of times against a buddies 05 raptor 660 (stock). I double his weight, he is a little guy. I did not use full throttle or keep it at one setting very long,, ( still breaking it in). we run about a mile and I steadily pulled away from him..
Stability compared to the old raptor is no contest,, new one wins hands down.. It does need a pipe. but you will also need to do some mapping to get all out of the pipe.. I have already replaced the restrictive stock filter with a new clamp on set up..

Using my buddies gps we got a max speed out on the flats of 72.6 mph. Before anyone starts complaining on the results of mph, This is what it read on that day. sustained for atleast one mile... ( time for the gps to refresh)

Over all I think this quad is great for me.. Others may differ, but I do a lot of riding at different elevations and I really like the EFI.
