Forget spending money on brakes. My 92 250X has the same brakes and they have not ever been replaced. Spend your money on making it faster.

EBC brakes are good (Rocky Mt. ATV). If you ride hard, a rear disc will eat up any pads in less than a year - much less time if you're racing.

The originals lasted about 9 months for me. I got some EBC (standard ones). They lasted about 3-4 rides (no joke). I now have some EBC severe duty ones and I disconnected my parking brake. I've had them for about 6 months now and they are almost as good as new. Braking is still excellent with these hard pads.

lol.......i had a set on my 250x for about 8 years

.....

was yarning to a yamie dealer, he had some stock ones off a grizzly (pads only).....i threw some of those on, after hearing good reports from some farming friends who reckon the wear pretty well

i can't remeber what brand they were, they weren't EBC

that pads size are real common

Slim,

What do you ride? I have a 400EX. I will be installing a parking break block off soon. Do you need to bleed the brakes in order to install the block-off?

On another note, I will be getting some new pads soon too. I am just a little skeptical of the "Sever Duty" pads and what they may do to my rotors. I figure the only thing that really makes the pads "Sever Duty" is an increase in metallic content.

How do your rotors look?

I have a 2000 300EX. I didn't buy anything for my parking brake. I just took the whole thing off. Cable and all. It was virtually useless anyway. On mine the parking brake has nothing to do with the brake fluid, so no I didnt have to mess with that. My rotors got pretty grooved up from the 1st set of worn pads. I wasn't checking them after every ride so I didn't notice them wearing. I rode a couple times and heard a grinding noise and I thought it was just dirt or something on the pad. When I checked them I found the pads completely gone! DOH The rotors were grooved quite a bit. I then decided to try and fix the rotors before I went and bought new ones. So I jacked up the back end, started it up and put in 3rd gear, let the rotor spin at idle speed and just sanded the **** out of them. I started out with some real coarse stuff and worked my way to the finer stuff. I got a piece of sandpaper in each hand and pressed down as hard as I could from each side. Believe it or not this actually worked. I didn't smooth out all of the grooves but I got most of them. I am real happy with the severe duty pads. My rotors still look pretty much the same as before I put the new pads on. My bike seems to brake even better with the severe duty pads. It took more pedal effort to lock up the rears with the standard EBC pads. hope this helps

Oh wow, I've never noticed that before....
I got bleeped out. **** **** **** ****

I've burned alot of pads in the last 16 years and I am thoroghly impressed with the brake pads I purchased from Moose.I bought them for the front of my R and will be replacing the rear with them soon.I ride so much I couldn't tell you how many hours I have on them but I should have had to replace them twice by now. 88' 250R
