ignoring the last post....

i dunno exactly, but i think it's the simple engineering. they keep things simple. For this reason is why many enthusiasts have come to look down on honda, since they seem to be lagging behind on the 'features' area. they spend a LOT of time on research and development, so they are always a step behind the competition. Adding more features to an atv, like locking differentials, EFI, higher ground clearance, and such requires more components, more moving parts, more research, and since they have a reputation to keep, they take their time researching new developments, thus they lag behind the rest.

I have a 2005 rancher, and when i look it over, i see some of the engineering that was put into it. the way some of the parts are put together makes me think "that was a good idea, i like to think that i would have thought of that". I look at my girlfriends polaris and i think "what were they thinking????"

It seems that the competition spends a little less time on research and development, but the payoff is new and better features SOONER. Hoping that customers will buy their product first, instead of waiting for Honda to come out with something similar. The drawback is that while some of the designs may be decent, some are total crap and should have had another year to work the bugs out.

sure, honda is reliable, i think the most reliable, others would differ. Sure, they are also the most underpowered, sit lowest to the ground, dont have locking differentials, and lack in total features, but i'm ok with that, if i wasn't i would not have bought one.

SPEAKING OF TAKING YOUR TIME?Exactly WHY did it take Honda 20 yrs to develope an ATV with a 20 dollar brake light and disk brakes while all the other 4x4 manufactures have had these two safety items for years on their ATVs. The 2003 Rincon was the first 4x4 ATV developed by Honda to have a rear brake light..They also added REAR disk brakes to this model..I see that for 2006,MANY of their 4x4 model ATVs have disk brakes front/rear now and brake lights..

RD should NOT take Honda 20 yrs to develope, especially when the added features benefit the safety of the ATV.

I'm not one to get involved with silly back-and-forth mud slinging on an ATV forum, but I just read something from quicksilver that made me chuckle so I feel somewhat compelled to reply.

Question........ Have you ever tried to do a simple oil change on a Rubicon ? (lol)

Look guys, I'm just throwing in my 2 cents in fun, not looking for a war.......... Although I am now a Polaris owner with absolutely no regrets, you'll never hear this guy bash a Honda. They are AWESOME machines and I will probably be a Honda owner again some day just as soon as they can offer me a similar quad for a similar price as what I presently own.......... So far, the Rubi doesn't even come close.
