Out of curiosity, what would it take to put a speedometer on a 400ex!

Same thing here. 20 bucks at a bicycle shop and a few minutes of programing. I mounted the magnet to the inside of my wheel with JB Weld and secured the sensor to the disc guard. Calibrated it and then checked it against the gps. Works like a charm.

i just talked to a guy selling speedo's for quads. It's only 32 dollars and it has an odometer, two trip meters, top speed, time, and obviously your current speed! The problem is it goes to 64 mph, NOT fast enough for my cam-ed 453 built EX!

I thought the Cateye Enduro 2 went to 99mph, but it only goes to 65. You also have to lengthen the cord or buy an extralong cord.

Here's install info:

the guys e-mail is Quad61@att.net--heres what he told me:It is correct that it will only read to 64mph. There are no digital aftermarket speedos that I'm aware of that will read higher than that. In fact, mine is the only aftermarket Speedo available for an ATV that I know of.

The only time you will run over 64mph is when drag racing on a long straight stretch, dune riding possibly, or even desert riding. Most riding arenas don't allow you to exceed 64mph during normal every-day riding.
A few more details...

The unit runs on its' own battery source... similar to a watch.

It has a wire that runs from the handlebars, where the display is
mounted, down the front brake line, attached to it with small plastic zip
ties, to the front left wheel. This wire will need to be cut and lengthened
to reach your wheel.

The magnet I use is extremely strong for it's size... about 1/4" round
diameter and 3/16" high. It is epoxied to the inside of your rim.

The sensor mounts somewhere near your brake caliper... on the plastic or
metal guard that most ATV’s have OEM.

The unit can be calibrated to fit any size ATV wheel. You measure the
outside circumference of the tire in centimeters and enter it into the speedo
which gives you very accurate readings. (I've taken two ATV's, with
different front wheel diameters, calibrated to each's own wheel diameter,
ran them side by side and both displayed the same speedo readings.) Even allows for programming two different wheel diameters and switching from one to the other via the display.

As I mentioned before, it works in every condition I've put mine through...
snow, rain, sand, and even deep sloppy mud. ...and it's a cinch to calibrate!

Use it to gauge your fuel level and maintenance intervals.

It comes with the stronger magnet, mounting hardware, and detailed supplemental installation instructions to mount to your ATV.

Thanks for the inquiry,
Dave (Quad61)
