whats the difference between the sport trax 400ex nd the trx 400.

I am not sure exactly. I heard that the carb changed, I know that the new one has reverse. The bike is lighter too. Other than that I can't help you out but I am sure that someone else can.

the 06 has different head lights and sixth gear and maybe a lil carb change plus reverse

6th gear? I didn't see that on Honda's website.
