I finally got my cylinder head back from la sleeve on saturday and started pieceing back togather, that night we were putting the cylinder in and pinched the base gasket and put a tear in it and rather than fudging that one to make it work i took off to the quad shop this moring and got a new one, but today was a good day let me tell ya everything went amazingly smooth knock on wood, we had no trouble putting the piston in and bolting every thing up the only tricky part was timing and gapping the valves and installing the new cam but we got it done somewhat quickly, after i got the new exhaust mounted on and carb in with a new jet we were ready to fire it and suprisingly again it started right up with no spit or sputter, we checked for leaks and sounds but there were none, i guess i guessed right on the jet to throw in, soo off i went on my first lil break in run and it ran really smooth and the new exhaust sounds amazing! I really want to open it up and see what its got but i will break it in a lil more and then give her a whirl. i didnt think this was too bad for a couple of 17 yr olds, i will be sure to post some new pics of the graphics kit and full exhaust soon!

well installing the cam was probably the most tricky part, we had to make sure the piston was at top dead center and the way you do that is take off the little allen head scre on your clutch cover and it waill have marks on your fly wheel to look at, then drop the cam in with the gear on it and there are marks on the gear and they will pretty much line up when the lobes on the cam are all facing down, but make sure your chain isnt one tooth off cause if it is you could bend valves and do some other nasty stuff to your motor. Jet wise, i was on here forever trying to get responce on jet sizing for my particular applicaton and i was getting anywhere from 160-180 so i went to my honda dealer he gave me a variety of jets from 160-170, and told me that somewhere in there is where i want to be, and with my old setup (pipe and air cleaner) i had a 155 with the needle droped one, so with this kit i just left the needle where it was at figuring i could adjust it after we got it running and put a 168 main in it and left the pilot alone. I dont know if i just got lucky or what but about the third crank on the engine she fired right up with no sputtering or nothing. and after a few rides i am almost convinced this is the carb setup i will use. One thing to add is when talking about installing a 440 i had alot of people tell me that adding a FULL exhaust system to the application will make all the differance in the world for that motor to breathe. well i hope this somewhat helped you out, and i will definately say if you want more power the 440 kit is the way to go!
