Hey guys I just bought a 2001 400ex with a busted rear axle carrier. I ordered a rad tapered carrier for it (friends advice). I just finished doing a tune-up on it, but have a question. Do i need to gap the spark plug before installing it? The bike is stock except for a yoshimura pipe (P.S. im not the most mechanically inclined person sorry if its a stupid question.)
Also what would be some ideal maintenance tips that I should do. I ordered the manual but it has not yet arrived. Thanks in advance, and any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

No you dont have to gap the spark plug it should be good if its a brand new plug and if its an old one you can just clean it off with a wire brush and check the gap to be sure. As for maintanence tips lube your chain every couple rides, check air pressure every 1-2months, check air filter for cleanliness every couple months and if you ride in mud its alot easier to wash it off if you spray it down the day of your ride cause the longer you wait the harder you gotta scrub. You can also tell if your front shocks are shot when oil leaks out and runs down the shock and it will collect a fair amount of dirt and such and not come clean so easily.
