Default honda 350

Trouble starting- 1987 Honda fourtrax 4x4 350cc. Bike turns over, but doesn't start initially. I have removed the fuel line going into the carb from the electric fuel pump and its not pushing gas through, nor does the pump humn as I turn the engine over. Its not til I inject gas into the carb manually, hit the ignition, then it starts. Its not until the bike has been running for a few seconds, does the fuel pump kick in. Also. once running the fuel pump makes alot of noise. Any suggestions? Bikes had a recent carb job. Thanks in advance. SS

hmm, is that an electric fuel pump or a vacuum fuel pump (if it has wires going to it, it's electric)?

If it's vacuum, it wont do anything until the engine starts, it runs off engine vacuum which makes a diaphragm move with the vacuum pulses, so it would probably ok

but if it's electric, make sure you have a good ground wire, and the other wire should have +12v with the key on?? sorry i dont know anything about those older machines
