Even though your plug and exhaust aren't wet with oil, the crankcase vent would still be a target for me (if the compression and leak down are OK)

Just a thought... when you drained the oil did you warm up the engine to normal operating temp before draining it? From what I have read so far and rulling out all of the obvious possibilities, I can't help but wonder if there was ever enough in it to start with. After you put the new oil in it did you crank the motor and let it idle for a few minutes and then let it cool for a few minutes before adding the rest of the oil need to show up on the upper mark of the dip stick? The engine oil and the tranny oil is the same and it takes a little bit for the motor to circulate the oil to all of the parts. I just can't help thinking that it looked full on the dipstick and when you rode it around for a while and the oil went to all of the compartments, it then would show that it is low. I am not sure if I read that you did put in the proper amount and if you did than I appologize. How many quarts did you put in it when you changed the oil yourself?

Good luck and I hope you find the problem.

my quad's in the barn, but I'm riding Sunday and I'll take a good look. If I get a chance to look earlier, I'll be sure to post

its got to be a line from the crankcase - most likely to the air filter housing

you put the quad in severe off cambers a lot?

OK, the vent line runs from the right side of the engine on the cylinder , you can see it just above the small black plastic cover that says HONDA, and runs under the carb and up to the airbox - to the left of the [carb to airbox] boot. Open up your airbox, there are some plastic fittings. Check your filter for 'excessive' oil where the case venting surrounds the filter.

Checked out the vent and the air box there is no oil in the air box and no oil on the filter

Could driving through deep deep water do anything to it?

I have never stalled it but its been in water over the 2 lower head lights

This 4 wheeler is starting to weird me out I looked all over it again for an oil leak and there is no oil on it anywhere its as clean as it can be

I would change the oil one more time. Warm up the motor before draining the oil, remove both drain plugs and the filter, replace with new oil and filter.

I am not saying that you didn't do it right the first time...I am just saying that with everything that you have checked and come up with no possible cause for the oil to be missing, you may want to change it again just to make sure. I would love to know what the final outcome is when and if you figure it out b/c I have never heard of this problem with any motor before.

Good luck and keep us posted.
