Hey guys. I'm almost sure I will have a rubicon around christmas time. I was wandering what kind of problems you have encountered if any and how you fixed them so that I might prevent them from happening. Txdoc, that lift kit hasnt caused any problems has it? I saw where TEXmud said something about his headlight popping out and he fixed it or something. Could you go into more detail texmud? TxDoc I'm probably going to go with your setup minus the itp mag wheels. I'm planning on the HL lift kit, fender kit, 28inch outlaws on stock wheels, and then buying some itp steels to put my stockers on for casual riding. I saw the video of the highlifter rubicon at the mud shootout...he had the outlaws on stock wheels, so will they still fit ok like that? Also, is the fender kit worth 100 bucks or is it something I could easily make with some scrap metal for alot less? Thanks for everyone's input!

The guy with the 28" Outlaws on the stock wheels and a lift kit had taken a hammer to his muffler shield. He said the tires rubbed the shield when backing up. I did not see it before he did the alteration. Mine is not close. The ITP Magnums must have an offset that is different from stock. Several poeple have asked me if I had spacers and I do not. The pics look like it, but I don't. I can get his email address and you can ask him about running the Outlaws on his stock wheels. I ahve not had any problems with the lift kit and the driveline. They just released it and I think it is $99 at www.highlifter.com

My headlight was due to riding in tons of deep water. I have found that the headlights are not too water tight. So when I put the lights on the next time the water in there made one of them break. When I replaced it I siliconed the heck out of it to make sure it is sealed. Time will tell. The fender kit will be a good investment. I dont have one yet and I am rubbing like crazy. I have also had it get stcuk in reverse twice now. After figiting with it for 5 minutes it comes right out. Not sure what that trouble is. If that is the only thing I have to deal with I got a great quad. There are some pics at http://www.ansley.net

I just saw the question on making a floorboard support/fender kit. I am not saying you can't because different people have unbelievable talents. but for $99, I would just buy it. It is not just a square of metal welded together. The right and left sides are asymmetrical and some areas have strange angulations that would be hard to duplicate. I believe they used some kind of CADCAM technology to obtain the dimensions of the undeside of the floorboard. But, with them on, and they bolt on easily, you can stand anywhere on the outer edge of the floorboard and it is solid.

I had the shifter handle come off, due to the screws backing out, while riding at Badlands. I also had a problem when I first picked up the Rubicon, in that the handlebar headlight was not working. For some reason, the weatherproof connector to the headlight had come disconnected. When I hooked it back up, I found out that it was binding inside the steering stem area, and when turning the handlebars, would pull itself apart. I was able to free up enough slack to reconnect it, and it hasn't come loose yet. No other problems, and loving it.

We also lost the bolts off of the shifter ****.
You might want to put some lock-tite on these.

During the 1st two weeks, we had a problem with hard starting and stalls. Gas wasn't getting to the carburetor. It was due to the breather tube being kinked in the steering column. The mechanic also thought the gas line below the tank was working itself out of the channel and getting pinched.

LovinHonda-are your parents aware that you have run this new bike wide open without breaking it in properly? That might not have been a good thing to do with <40 miles on it.
