Default should i buy this 250r?

1987 Honda 250R. Very fast 250R w/ CT's 330 ported & polished motor. It has Works triple rate front & piggy back rear shocks, 2+2 Lonestar A-Arms, Braided brake lines, Douglas rims w/beadlock rear, Lonestar adjustable axle, Lonestar +1 steering stem, Tag 2 bars & clamps, Billet steering stablizer, FMF pipe, Janssen crome swingarm, IMS desert tank & IMS pro-pegs w/kick up. The motor is fresh about 10 hrs on rebuilt fully polish motor.

should i buy this 250r for $4500? only thing he said it doesnt have its green sticker currently but he could get it? how you think it hold up against some of the newer 450's?

That sounds a little high, just cause it's an 18 year old bike. I'd offer him $3500 or $4000 and see what he says.

That price is not high at all....if it is in good condition. An R like that (or one like mine which has nearly identical mods but is setup for XC) sells for around $6,000 EASILY down here in South Florida.

Cracked frames and welds are what set a good 250R apart from a bad one. I looked at four 250Rs before I bought mine and they all had significant frame damage. You've got to remember that the bike you are looking at was raced.....examine the chassis very closely.

Shock mounts, where the subframe connects to the main frame, and the motor mounts are the major areas. Almost all 250Rs have broken the motor mounts on the bottom of the frame that connect to the bottom of the engine....so if those are broken don't let that discourage you. I solved this problem on my R by having custom ones fabricated with metal twice as thick in gauge as stock. It is 18 years old so minor cracks and repairs should be expected, just watch out for any significant welding.
