Oh I thought you said it was an 86 TRX250. They really can't be junk, it's easy enough to fix anything that may be wrong with it. And it's one of the best quads ever produced, and that's coming from a Suzuki guy.

yep, it's hanging from the ceiling by a couple of chains, so we can work on it easier, and it's a 4-stroke.
This has been a great bike, but it's had a really hard life. It hasn't had the best care, and it's been ridden hard. all four fenders have been broken off, my Dad and I have both rolled it a few times, and I've ran it through both barbed wire and chain-link fences before...
This has been an awesome bike, before the clutch went out I could easily out run both of our newer 250cc and 350cc utility bikes.

So maybe junk isn't the proper term...

Why? Those things were as reliable as anything else out there.

LOL Yeah, I know they are. I just felt embarrassed for defending it, and he's the one that called it junk.

This is correct if you are talking about a TRX250R. The were only made from 86-89.
that is what i was talking about. yep i know 86-89 were the only production years of the legendary R. how'd you like that 33% price increase from the '88 model to the virually identical ( a few changes) white '89 model back then? the MSRP went from $3098 to $4098.

the trx250x was made in 87 with grayish and red fenders. in 88 it got red/white fenders... i seem to recall honda excluding it from the lineup for a year or so but i could be mistaken...then after they realized they killed the 250R and had NO sport bikes, they reintroduced the 250x in 91 (as a 92 model?) in blue/white and a couple yrs later it became the 300EX in all red... we've had alot of different sport bikes over the yrs and personally the 250X remains one of my favs. it was a fun bike, very nimble and was a suprisingly good jumper.

i know this useless trivia doesnt solve your dilema over the clutch- but it may- you kinda gotta know the year and model of a bike to get the right parts.
