question bout 400ex

im think about buying a 2003 400ex and i was curious to know if a 41 mm carb would work with stock motor but HMF exhaust? thanks for the help

I personally don't think it would run that good. If you raise the compression, and change the cam, it would make that carb worthwhile.

41mm seems excessive on a fairly stock EX. I know that on a 2-stroke, if you have too large of a carb it can hurt your bottom end power. I would assume the same in your case.

thanks for the advise i just wanted to get more power from it without having to go into the motor
