Will it hurt........250r
Is Duneaddict and myself the only ones in here that own chainsaws, leafblowers and weed wackers?
Lets use a little logic here.
I just used a leafblower that I run a tank of gas through. It has a throttle lock on it so it is WOT until the tank runs dry, (about 45 minutes). 45 minutes at WOT. Then I put another 50 to1 tank of fuel in it and it goes for another 45 at WOT. So at the end of the 10 hour day, including fuel stops, this two stroke has run WOT for about 9 hours.
Now let talk chain saws. I have a little mini-mac 10 that has at least 50 measured cords run through it. I have gone through several bars and countless chains on this saw. Although not WOT all of the time, the majority of it's life was WOT.
Now lets talk matainance. I have not changed the plug in the leafblower.........EVER. Check it, ya, but not changed it. Everytime I look at it it looks very close to a well tuned 4 stroke plug. I think I changed the plug in the chain saw about twice. Don't know for sure, it's been a long time ago.
I use the leafblower about 4 to 5 day a year for my business. I bought it about 5 or 6 years ago. So this thing has clocked about 200 hours, give or take. Rebuild; ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.................I think not. Not even close.
The saw is a little loose. Should it be rebuilt. Mmmmmmmmmm ya, if I raced it, ha ha ha, I would rebuild it. Hard to race a saw so I don't worry about it. I think it will last my lifetime and then some. Could be wrong, but I don't think I will ever blow it up.
For the record, I have worked on my 4 strokes far more than my 2 strokes. Although, I have not worked a lot on either.

I had to register to reply to this thread. You said that your dad and you bought your first twostroke atv. If this means that your dad put up the money respect his wishes. It will not hurt the atv to "top it out" but it might hurt your relationship with your dad. I agree with the above posts that the 250R was made to be ran hard. It is very fast and your dad may be more worried about your being hurt than the twostroke engine. I feel that you should get to know the machine before you ride it hard. I don't care how old you are this is a high performance machine and will get away from if you aren't careful. Take it easy for a while and when your dad learns how well you can ride then take it out and have your fun.

I second what has been said.. Respect your fathers wishes, as a father who owns a 250R I let my boys try it when we are riding, but I dont let them ride it. THey are both pretty good riders.. If I was to let one of my boys ride my R I would want them to respect my wishes while they ride it.. Even if it is mine, or if I bought it to let them ride it or have, ,Respect goes a long way in a relationship, but if you loose that RESPECT its hard to trust.
Ride the bike he wants you to, even if your not dragging, or holding it wide open, its a fun quad to ride, take this opprotunity and enjoy.
