Had a buddy give me this bike, it's going to be my winter project to get it running.

Its a 250 Fourtrax, 2wd with electric and kickstart. Here's my problems: electric starter is fried so I am trying to get it to start with kickstart.

Will not go...Put fuel direct in cylinder, she will run for 3 to 10 seconds and die. Can't touch the throttle or it just dies.

Looked at the carb and it appears that things are all messed up with fuel lines etc. Does anyone have a repair manual that they could scan that page and send it to me as an email attachment??

Cleaned the tank and fuel flow is good from the petcock, so I am assuming carb....

Its a utility ATV, not the racing type I have seen on some of the sites, so I don't know if its an X or and R or whatever.....

i dont think it would be messed up lines, unless someone was messing with it that didnt know what the hell is going on.

i'd say the carb needs to be taken off, fully taken apart, cleaned, and new gaskets / rebuild kit if nessary.

then just put it back on, hook up the fuel line from the tank, then hook up the overflow hoses.

(make sure the tank is clean and has fresh gas.) id empty it completely and rinse it out with new gas.

 

I believe someone did mess around with them, cause they seem to go *****-nilly everywhere, some are black rubber, some are clear plastic...Knowing this guy I would not doubt he fooled around with it, I think thats why he gave it to me, cause he has no mechanical abilities whatsoever...

Already rinsed, flushed the tank, so now onto the carb....[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img]
