The guy who just posted who also picked up the 450 r what do you think about the break in period in the manuel it said 15 miles don't rev. it to much and the dealer said 10 to 15 hours don';t get on it that much. the first day I rode I didn't even open it up but you have to rev it because it runs so much better. Give me your thoughts. Hey I put the DG fat series front bumper on it looks great I paid $169 for it from the dealer Motosportoutlet where I get all my stuff has it for $109.

05 vs 06 TRX 450R

I feel that my 05 with HRC kit and 13 tooth front sprocket was faster in a drag race than my totally stock 06. Haven't raced them head to head yet so I can only compare based on how I did against a friends Predator with each of my TRX. I would guess-timate the 05 wins by 2-3 bikes in (approximately) 400 ft.

In regards to the 06, I love the electric start and how responsive it is with the FCR style carb. I dislike the low rpm engine noise, and I also dislike the extra stiffness in the shocks. The stiffer thumb throttle is obvious even on short rides.

No tippiness here, slides at will like the others have said. Originally, I thought I liked the headlight on the 04/05 better, but now that I have the 06 I think it makes the old headlight style look outdated.

I'm getting the HRC kit on the new TRX the 25th of this month. I sure hope that I like the results. As it sits right now, I would choose my 05 with HRC kit over my stock 06 if it weren't for the electric start.

i rode an 06 last weekend at the track. It had no low end knock or rattle at all. In fact it was the quietest 4-stroke ive ever seen. I agree the shocks are too stiff, it doesnt like to turn going into corners. Power was also very smooth on it. It was a little slower IMO then my 400ex with cam pipe and portwork.

Ok I have a new 06 and it knocks also with low Oct gas.
Put a mix of race gas and super in it and it will run better.
You have to remember when you have that high 12:1 compression
you need high Oct gas.
Should have the HRC kit this weekend.
How hard is it to install?

Also as for the bike I love it. I rode a yam suz before at the dunes and man
this ride is far better.

I haven't added but maybe a 1/2 tank of fuel so far, dealer filled it prior to pickup. I was kind of wondering if they filled it with regular unleaded and if that was why it was rattling so badly. If straight 92/93 octane doesn't cut it, I'll try 50/50 race gas / unleaded combo and see how much that helps.

I would like to hear more about the 06 450's with the HRC kit from those who own them.

Right on the quad it says premium unleaded 91 or higher according to my owners manuel. One thing this quad you have to let warm up with choke on and after about 3 minutes I take choke off and still let idle. The manuel says 15 miles be careful on the breakin no full throttle starts or high reving, any thoughts on that.

whats the break-in for an '05? Is it ok just as long as you're not on the gas too bad?
