Honda domination...

Another thing to consider when talking about Honda's succes at baja, is that they put more money than anybody into the Baja race teams. Having the best equipment and riders out there has a lot to do with it.

Only a couple of those teams are actually Honda factory teams. The rest are independent, yet they are riding the 450R just the same. I think you can pay to use the Honda pits (even if you don't ride a Honda), which is of course a big help for anybody. But when 9 out of the top 10 machines are 450R's, that says volumes!
Just because the other manufacturers don't even show up, doesn't make the Honda showing any less incredible. Maybe the other stay home because they know their machines will DNF in droves.

I think you have to have the Honda pits reserved way ahead of time, they only take on so many riders.
3 Bomb 800's entered the Pro Class and not one of them finished.

Anyone really intrested in the Baja 1000 should make a trip to Wal Mart and buy a copy of Dust To Glory, as it is a great documentary on this race. Gives a real look at what the racers endure to even finish let alone place in this event. VERY GOOD movie..........You won't be sorry.
I read somewhere that Mike Penland did well in a class on a Bomb 800...... It this true?
