Default Just bought 85' 200s

Just bought an 85' 200s and it smokes like crazy and burns oil, I figure rings are shot?? I had a truck doing the same thing so I dumped in some gear lube and that made it quit smoking. Any idea if it would work in 3 Wheeler engine or would it screw somethin up?? Also front Sproket was Drilled, tapped and bolted back on, but bolt keeps coming loose...any cheap ideas to fix?? Appriciate any help!!

well for the smoking problem the rings are most likeley shot. just order some gaskets and some rings, install them in the moter and the motor will last another 20 years, but make sure to hone the cylinder before installing the new rings. using really thick oil will work, just mix "non smoke oil" and motor oil together until it stops smoking. but if you plan on keeping this any period of time i would rebuild it will only cost about 50 bucks.im not sure about the sprocket, there are 3 bolts right? you shuld only need one solid bolt to keep the retainer on it.

Back in the day, I bought a brand new 84 200s. $1299. I wanted an 84 200x, but couldn't afford the $1799 sticker price. A new 84 250r was $2199. Those were the days.
