Default 06 Rincon 680 or Outy 800XT

OK I am going to be buying 1 and maybe 2 new quads just after the first of the year. I have decided that I want IRS for comfortable ride but still need sporty handling. I also want EFI I am tired of messing with jetting. Some of the places we ride can start at about 4500 or 5000 ft and rise to above 10,000 ft. I will be posting this same thread on the Bomb forum too.
I have owned a P700 and presently ride KFX700. I like power just looking for a more comfort too.
I don't want a machine that breaks down or has lots of problems. I have heard of a stalling problem on the Rincon, but not much else and don't know how common that problem might be.
I have heard of problems with gauges and having to restart the 800 when shifting between 2x4 and 4x4. Also heard some might have problems with the shocks agin I don't know how common this is.
My wife will ride this quad a lot so I am concerned about how they handle and if the power hits really abrupt does the front end raise too much and try to come over backwards when climbing steep hills. Also how they feel on the trail, my wife felt like the P700 was kind of hard to stear and big for her.
If I buy the Rincon I will be adding a winch, the 800XT comes with one.
Depending on how bad a beating I will have to take selling my VForce, I will for sure buy 1 and if I can sell the V for a decent price will be getting 2. So you can see I am probably going to spend a lot of money and I am looking for real information from people who ride or have rode or ride with people who own these two machines. I don't want a flame contest between the machine loyal, just good info and opinions.
I might also consider the Suzuki KQ700. I don't really care for the Polaris EFI's just me but didn't like the Polaris machines I rode.

The dealership I work for sells both Honda and Bombardier (I'm a tech by the way). Hmmm...sounds like you got a dilemna there. I haven't been too impressed with Bomb's ATV's but that 800 Outlander is an ANIMAL...Have you heard one run? It's the coolest sounding wheeler I've ever heard. We have several out and haven't had but a minor glitch or two for problems yet, but this is still a very new model. I've only ridden one briefly by the way and they are a handful in IMO. I really like the Rincon too...they just fit me and I feel really comfortable on one. I have a regular customer who has both. He is very impressed with his Outlander but he says he's keeping the Rincon (he's been very happy with it). I'm guessing your wife would prefer the Rincon and you might like that Outlander.

I gave a long answer over on the Bombardier forum. I will say that if I could have, I would have kept BOTH my Rincons, and still bought the Outlander. The Rincons are great machines, and I still have one. No problems with either of mine. Out of all the guys who own them over on the rincon owners forum, not much in the way of problems at all. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Thanks for the replies guys, anyone else? dzzy, that was kind of what I was thinking the 800 might be too much for my wifes riding style. Maybe they will have the Outy 650s in the dealer by the time I buy and that may add another choice for her. If I buy 2 I am thinking the 800 for me.

I've owned a new 2003 Rincon for two yrs,got very bored with it and went ahead and bought the new King Quad last yr..I liked the KQ ALOT more than the Rincon..But the new 2006 Rincon is a better ATV than the 2003 Rincon in that it has front disc brakes, and finally EFI.I dis-like the tranny on the Rincon,it NEEDS one more gear, and it still has very POOR downhill engine braking.I would not buy another Rincon[even a 2006] over the King Quad. The low end on the KQ,the downhill engine braking, adjustable suspension, and lower MSRP on the KQ would win me over..

But------------Now I own the new Bomb 800 twin, and I like it more than the KQ.I admit,I only have 260 trouble free miles on the beast, but I like it alot.

Good luck with your choices, there's PLENTY of good ones.

If it is truely for your wife, then you need to decide how she will ride it and in what kind of terrian.

If she is a trail rider and not into mud or a lot of technical riding or extreme steep downhills; get the Rincon. She will love the ride and handling. It is easier to steer than the big Bomb. Unless she hurts it about all you will ever need to do is change the oil.

If she rides much in any of the conditions mentioned then the 650 Bomb may be a better choice. That choice may involve more riding effort and more maintenance effort.

I have 03 Rincon and an 04 400 Outlander and am considering replacing the 400 with either the 650 Bomb or the 06 Rincon. Tough decision!

If I decide I can't take the hit selling my V and only buy 1 it will be 90+% for the wife as she does not like my V at all she does not like the way the power hits and she prefers 4x4 and a softer suspension. We do ride some pretty steep stuff with a lot of rocks and some water crossing (usually not real deep). We deal with more deep snow than we do deep mud. I will have winch on it mostley to pull out the V if I stick it or to get the V up things that require the 4x4. If we get two then it changes because one is completely for me and the other is then totally her's. We very seldom have really needed the low range I don't use it for work they are basically for play only. Might get used to drag an elk or a deer out and sometime to pull downed logs back to camp for fire wood. I have a chain saw so again I can cut the wodd small enough that the low range is not totally needed. We do ride with two people 1 adult and 1 child a good percentage of the time, how every many of the trails get tight enough that I am not sure about a machine designed for 2, worried about the extra length. Haven't seen many of them on the trails around here yet. We also play at the dunes some so what ever we get will play in the sand a little too. I have thought about the 650 Outy but from the description it will be same as the 800 only 10% less power. No sure how that would work for wife need to have her see if the Outys feel big to her if she liked the size and handling then the 650 might be a real option. I ride much harder and more aggressive than she does.

If your wife doesn't want hard hitting power she should try the King Quad, it's detuned for saftey on take off..but it's got more power than the Rincon. The KQ is very easy to steer and rides really good as well, and it has EFI. It's got a very smooth powerband for a big single, not much vibration felt at all.

Yeah get her in on it. If she's a relatively new rider, even the weakest 650 might be more machine than she'd enjoy.
