I am trying to replace my winch line on my Superwinch but I can't seem to find cable with a strong enough work load. The highest work load I can find is 850lb. Can someone tell me where I could find aircraft cable or a suitable super strong cable? I have no idea where to look for such an item. Is 50ft of 3/16" cable about the maximum you can fit on a Superwinch wheel? Thanks for the information.

J.C. Whitney catalogs winch cable; look up "Wire Rope" in the yellow pages of your telephone directory for local sources.

You can cram more cable on a Superwinch spool, but you lose extraction force from the leverage of the radius of a too-full hub.

About $20 from www.northentool.com or Tractor Supply.

about 40 to 45 feet is all you can get on a superwinch 1500. i have one on my rancher, got it at the farm store, 3/16 cable and the hook and fittings cost about $16.

go ahead and get 1/4" cable the only mod your have to make is to slightly drill out the hole in the spool.

00' rancher 4x2 es, 26x12" mudrunners on the rear, 1500lb winch w/ 50ft of 1/4 in.cable, herculined rack.

I found 3/16 cable at Home Depot, Lowe's, and a couple of other hardware stores but the workload limit is 850 pounds. I hope you realize that. The cheapest I can find 3/16 aircraft cable is Tractor Supply. 49 cents per foot of 3/16 galvanized aircraft cable. If my information is correct its workload is 3700 pounds, as compared to the cheaper 850lb cable. I got the crimping tool for $22 but I am going to return it after I use it. Does anyone know how many feet of cable I could realistically put on the spool? 60-65 feet? I would get the 1/4" cable but it is way too expensive and I can't see needing the extra diameter. Any thoughts to the contrary would be appreciated - Deadeye being one for sure. Thanks again for the information!

It's sounds like the question is the price... It was a major factor when I replaced my cable as well. I checked everywhere (home depot, lowes, TSC...etc) and if you buy it by the foot they will really burn you, but I found at home depot (right above the spools)a box of precut wire that already had the crimping and hook attatched for about 1/3 the price. hope that helps.
