Foreman dan,
so you think that its worth getting the 500. I was thinking about getting the rubi but, I like the simplicty of the foremans. I do alot of trail riding and plow alot in the winter. Just worried about the tranny on the rubi. does it handle alot better than the 450?

When I made my last trip to Tellico with some friends, we hooked up with a guy with a new 500 4X4. He was riding with his wife on the back. We had 2 450s in our group. Tellico is a very rough place to ride. We couldn't come close to keeping up with the 500 and we were riding single. He didn't have to slow down over the bumps at all and we were taking a beating.
I love the smoothness of the Rubi, but for the price that you can get a 05 Foreman for right now, it is hard to justify the Rubi.

It is a better ride and more powerful. Front disc brakes also. You can still find great deals on an 05 model. Around $4800 for a manual shift 4x4.

$4800??????? That would be sweet to get one around here for that! Envious.

No, the 500 Foreman does not have rebound or preload adjustments.
As far as the original question, having floorboards was one of the things that tipped the scales for me as far as shelling out the additional $$$ to get a newly released 500 as opposed to a discounted 450.
I haven't had the chance to ride a 450 and my 500 back to back, but I'd bet the 500 is not that much more powerful, though I do think the suspension has improved.
If I were in your shoes, and had a perfectly good 450 Foreman, I don't think it would be worth the hassle and cash to get a 500... Unless you want a 500 just because... in which case I'd say go for it.
Used Foremans seem to really hold their value, so maybe it wouldn't cost that much.
