It appears that the rubber seal on the driveshaft has worn and is now leaking oil bad. This is the seal on the left side of the bike under the black plate that says "4x4" just where your heal would be if sitting on the bike. Does anyone have any experience with replacing this seal? Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. By the way, its a '97 300 4x4. Help, need to get it repaired b4 the weekend. Thanks

These happens often go get the little seal at honda, you are talking about where the shifter shaft comes out of the side of the engine? If so just pull it out with a small sharp hook type of screwdriver, clean where seal sits and slightly lube the new seal and push it in eavenly till in sits in it's proper place?very simple to do and cheap, let me know how it goes!

No, wrong seal. I am talking of the driveshaft seal that is under the "4x4 plate" that would actually be above the gearshift seal you are speaking of. Does anyone know of the seal I am talking about or have any experience with it??
