I recently found my sons 250 after a nice trip with hurricane rita. A friend and I cleaned the engine, changed the oil and it seems to run fine but the electric shifter seems to get stuck after it warms up and more than one gear will light up. After siiting it will run o.k. again. At one point the 1 gear blinked 4 times but not consistantly. Any hints out there and how hard would the es system be to change or could it just be the cable with the lights?

 

i'm assuming this is a recon. if the light for first gear blinks, it is a diagnostic code. you will need to count the number of blinks and consult the service manual to help find the failure. there are many parts for the es system and to replace them all would be unneccessary and expensive.
