Default Downgrading to a Craptor...........

As some of you might know, my decked out 440EX got Stolen in December. I found a deal on an 02 Craptor for $1200.00 and it looks like thats going to be my new toy for a while. Personally, I dont like Craptors, all the power is in the bottom end and although they ride smoothe, cornering is about as good as my suburban. How much can I get for an 02? The bike will be perfect once I clean it up. Should I keep it? I am going to post in the Yamaha forum as well but I wanted too see what you guys thaught.

What is wrong with that raptor? That is a really good deal for a 2002, I checked on nada.com and they said it could value anywhere from $2800 to $3700, so it could be a chance for you to make a little money if it wasent tottaly crashed up or something.

If you don't like the Raptor, then by all means wait and get yourself another 400ex. Why buy something that you already despise? Why are you even looking into purchasing a Raptor? Possible closet Raptor fan here??

Buy it, then turn around and sell it. Sounds like you could make a $1000-$1500 easily.

Anything is better than watching other ppl ride. Might even be a good chance to make a lil $$. Hope it all works out for you. I also hope the SOB's who stole your ride slams it into a tree head-on @ 60mph.

without a helmet on ofcourse.

Default Downgrading to a Craptor...........

I picked it up yesterday and started looking at what it needed. So far I have to replace the starter, battery, solenoid and starter brushes, fix a headlight, install a new set of bars, replace the rear axle bearings and a few more odds n ends but nothing too serious. Not a bad deal for $1300. There are a few things that I really dont like about the quad such as the header bolts, the 8 million screws that you have to remove in order to take off the plastic, the chain tensioner, the lack of midrange and the top heavy ride but I think it might have potential. I am either going to fix what needs to be fixed and ride it for a while and eventually sell it or I might just build it like I did my 440ex. 686 Raptor in my signiture? Possibly. Although this quad doesn't have the simplicity, longevity and reliablility of a honda, I dont think it's as bad as some people make it out to be.

It's a shame about the stolen quad. I hate theives! I hope the rotors fall off as they come to the end of a cliff. All seriousness about the Raptor it's a great trail bike with some mods and yes you have to be prepared to take alot apart to fix one thing, but I'm sure you can handle it for the deal you got. Stock raptor parts are cheap on e-bay and the aftermarket is unlimited. If you make the same mods on a raptor and a 400ex that raptor will always be faster!

Good luck!
