450r valves
#1
This summer im either gonna get a 450r or a raptor. my local honda dealership has told me that i have to change the titanium valves every year or so to keep my engine from blowing up but im only gonna trail ride it. i really want the 450r but my deciding factor is how often you need to replace the valves and rebuild the engine, and if you do need to replace the valves how hard would it be for me 2 do it?

Your local honda dealer is, like most of them, blowing smoke up your butt. I haven't seen a 450 even need rings at less than 100 hours here locally, and no one has had a premature valve failure. I would find a new dealership and get the 450r. You'll love it.

The problem is the water passages and exhaust port design on the 450 dont cool the exhaust vavle area very well so under high rpm and heavy loads for a extended amounts of time with cause the Ti valves to fail So most motor builders replace them with SS valves and the problem is gone for the most part

so all of these stories my dealer is telling me are from the 450 dirtbikes engine and not an 05/06 450r?
