vapor lock issues

aight guys I have a brain teaser for you. lol. I have a 99 Honda Recon, when I take it to a place to ride and ride it pretty hard for about 30 or 45mins it start cutting back and will eventually get to where if you press the gas it will cut off, but it idles like nothing is wrong. I have been told this is the engine vapor locking. My question is, how can I fix it? Any and all help or comments are appreciated.

Sounds like a plugged vent tube.
Theres one on the gas cap, and one on the carb. Next time it starts to run crappy, stop and remove the gas cap, and see if it gets better. If it doesnt, the vent in the carb would be your next try.

The rubber tube coming out the bottom of the carb float bowl, is the combination vent/overflow/drain tube. If the rubber tube is blocked by mud, it wont vent correctly. If you turn the screw, on the very bottom of the carb float bowl, the gas will drain out the tube...and this doesnt necessarily mean it isnt plugged, but it will mean the rubber tube isnt plugged.
If you click on the camera icon, next to my post, look at picture #6, its a float bowl, with a brass tube sticking up, thats the combo overflow and vent. When you unscrew the bottom screw, itll open a passage at the base of it. So its possible theres an obstuction at the top of the brass tube.
If you stand the quad on the back rack and back tires, it should cause gas to come out that tube...this will confirm the vent is open.

Next time your out and it runs like that, take off your gas cap to see if it fixes it. If it does, buy a new gas cap. If not its likely the vent on the carb like mentioned above. Try the cap first, always eliminate the easy stuff first!!!!
