EXACTLY what in the world do you call this response that I copy/paste from one of my first responses? Does it not contain other information in it also regarding the TOPIC?

Fact is,I OWNED and RODE my Rincon for 2 years. At first it seemed to be a pretty nice ATV for most circumstances, however, the more I rode with our local ATV club, the more appearant the shortcomings were on the Rincon. The tranny needs a low range VERY badly to compete with the other manufactures, I dont concider engine braking a luxury on the highest priced 650 in its class. The shocks are non-adjustable, mine had ancient drum style brakes in the front that WILL leak after awhile if you try and go the same places your buddies go with their disk brake equipped ATVs,it lacked a front differential locker that the LOWER priced 4x4s in its class had as STOCK equipment. I switched over to the EFI equipped KQ after two yrs of owning the Rincon and there is nothing I miss about it,in plain english!

Don't like it as much as my Hondamatic, but I like the ride a lot more. Sportier than any other utility I've driven, but not as much utility. Will not outwork many others without low, but plows with a 60" blade with ease. Engine braking is a luxury, not a necessity - I have not seen it as an issue, but then again I can ride competently. Of course this will not win any jerk-off drag races with the ego machines from other manufacturers, but I would take one in a CC race against any of them. New ones have discs and EFI, what more do you need? A locker? I'd rather install a locker in this and have a better machine with a locker. Around here they are selling the 06 for 6899, just $200 more than an 05 Grizzly at the local Yamaha dealer.

Sorry to hear about your KQ. Read how much trouble you're having on another post.

Muddy just hates Honda, take his review with a grain of salt. Notice he has nothing constuctive to say, just his usual I hate Honda banter. He rode one without maintaining it and feels burned. Must not have liked the KQ either as he is riding something different already.
wayout here,i don't like the way the tranny works, you never know when it's going to shift up or down, climbing a steep hill, and it downs shifts, thats a little scary, same way going down a slipery hill, don't like the constant handerbar jerking from side to side either, the motor is very noisey also, but it's the smothest riding atv i've ever been on,hands down, just my 2 cents..wayout, out............

I agree w/ ya on this, alot of factors go into when the tranny actually shifts like the angle of the bike, speed of the bike, and were your throttle is? If I may ask why dont you run esp? I run esp all the time and love it, i do still like the option of selecting what gear im in

I agree with wayout honda does seem to break less, though I am not a fan of the transmission. Just my opinion, don't freak out propnut. In my area the dealer has told me that they have had a lot of the older model rinnys in for repair on the tranny. I don't know, I do agree though that this kind of tranny will be offered by all manufactors in the future.

I went riding for the first time yesterday and I was trying to figure out how the tranny works. It is going to take some getting used to. I had it in auto mode on the trails but when you slow down it will downshift and the rear tires will slide if in snow or on ice. Was not sure if I liked that. The auto would hunt between gears if at a certain speed and certain throttle position. I used auto for about half the day. Ther rest of the day I used esp and it was awsome. You can do most of your woods riding in second or even third and still had enough power to get up and go from slower speeds. I think the auto is best used for long roads, racing, or somewhere where it dont have to shift much. Esp is great for the woods or mudding.

way out here, you are exactly on the auto mode vs esp that's sums it all up;; did you all know if something goes wrong with the tranny it has to be shipped back to japan to get fixed or replaced, because no one here knows how to work on them,no one has been trained in the USA; i didn't believe that so i called other dealers in my area, they all told me that was true,so i had a friend of mine that works at a Honda dealership as a mechanic call honda, they told him on the phone that was true, now this was true as of the summer of 2004,i'm assuming it is still true,it's suppose to be a very complicated system!! wayout, out...........

EWW, that doesn't seem like something I would want. But I can't belive that wayout. It is a motor cycle tranny....So I'm pretty sure someone knows how to work on them. My dealer says they can fix them. Don't mean to always come out dissagreeing with you but I have to on this one. Maybe they have to ship em' out for warranty work? I don't know, don't care. I wont have to worry about it. I'll just keep putting the rubber bands to it.

That is 100% false. Forums such as this one are great, but they do have their problems. One of them is people making outrageous claims when they have no idea what they're talking about.

First of all, the Rincon tranny isn't seperate from the engine, both units are integral. You can't simply unbolt the tranny on a Rincon to work on it. If you wanted to ship a Rincon tranny anywhere, you would have to ship the entire engine.

Second, every single transmission part is available to Honda dealers around the world, and the service manual details how to perform every single tranny repair.

Any knowledgeable Honda dealer anywhere in the world can repair a Rincon tranny. Period.
