the stock hearder works great for a mildly modded engine.

and sparks makes great pipes. I had one on my 300ex great construction cool sound..very free flowing

Was that a before and after comparison with a pipe only mod on the same dyno?

No pipe only mod is going to give a 17 hp gain even on a 2 stroke.

The stock head pipe is fine until you start doing mods like a piston or cam. If you are just going with the exhaust then the slip on is fine, in the long run the full system might be a good idea in case you decide on doing more engine mods.

I am beating my head on what pipe to get for my raptor, I saw that you have a ct pipe. Does it make a true 17hp gain and most importantly can you tell a huge differance in performance if so where did it help most? I am undecided about what exhaust to get the ct racing exhaust, sparks racing exhaust or the graydonproline exhaust, I talked to them all but I wanted to here from someone who is running a pipe on there raptor. Also how does that ct pipe sound is it real loud or is it comaparable to all the other aftermarket pipes? Please let me know about the pipe ASAP I am driving my self insane because I dont know which one to go with!

Do not get the big gun exhaust for the 400EX. They are very restrictive on built motors. The best pipe for the 400EX is the DMC, then the white bros full promeg. If you get a big gun you will regret it just like me, on a stock bike they are ok, but if you build at all, they suck.

LDJ hit it on the head. The guy who built my motor did the exact same kit on his EX but had a Big Gun and it sucked bad. My stocker, with exception of the WB R4 slip on and a K&N beat him by 4 links in 600' of sand. He's been racing for 20 years and I know he knows how to ride. He now has a DMC and it really brought his 440 to life. I'm thinking very seriously about getting a DMC myself.
