You didn't say where the needle is set right now, but the nominal position is #3. to make the 1/4 to 3/4 part of the band richer you need to raise the needle to the 4th position. Needle positions are numbered from the top of the needle.

To get to the needle you have to take the top part of the carb off. It will have the throttle cable going into a threaded cap. You will have to watch the cable as you turn the cap so the adjustment don't get screwed up. Once you get that off you simply pull it out assuming there is clearance, and you will get the throttle slide and needle, and the throttle spring. Now you got to un-hook the throttle cable by pushing it against the spring moving the plate that prevent's it form unhooking, and separate the slide from the spring. At this point the needle can fall out, by tipping the slide. Now you can move the clip by placing it on something flat covering the e-clip, and pressing down on the needle. Move it toward the pointed end to richen the mixture, and assemble the needle and slide. Put the spring over the throttle cable bring up the slide and the plate and hook it up. When you put it back in the carb body make sure you get the needle to go where it belongs, and make sure the slide is in correctly in the carb body. You will have to align the adjusting screw and the adjusting slot in the throttle slide. Screw the cap back on, check the throttle adjustment , and take a ride and see if it helped.

Thanks, but my slides a little different. After you take the cable out of the slide you have to find a pair of really small pliers and pull off a larger metal clip that covers the end of the needle completely and holds it on.Then take out the little e-clip.I went from number 3 to number 5 and it runs a lot better!
