search atvriders or ebay for some stock 450r shocks, those are much better than what you have, but not up to Elka standards, or probably even Works, just much cheaper and you will gain some handling.
Also, consider a steering dampner. The ones under $180 (pep, denton), this makes a HUGE difference in handling, epecially when combined with suspension. these babies are way underrated.

From what I've read, you will need to grind the top of the shock slightly for clearance, and they will bolt right up.
