Default Idle

On my new 2005 Honda Rubicon with 55 miles on it, it does not idle to well....as in to low. Is it normal to have to adjust the idle on a new ATV or do i have engine trouble?

If you have to turn it up and it runs fine, then run it. Spec is 1400 rpm and only adjust after the motor is warmed up. Has the machine been sitting for more than a month or two? If it has, its possible the carb needs cleaning.

yeah, just about all the new bikes are like that. I had to adjust my idle on my rancher too. That's why they give you the handy turny-**** thing on the idle speed adjuster. I use it to put my quad on 'fast idle' when i start it cold so it stays running. Then after it's warmed up and driven for a few miles i'll turn it back down.

Dennis kirk and jr-graham sell what's called a Tiny Tach/ Hour meter thing, really easy to hook up and doesnt tap into any wires.. Just has a wire you wrap around the spark plug wire that picks up the magnetic field around the plug wire to determine engine rpm...It doesn update too fast, but I put one on my rancher so i can keep track of my maintenance, and watch the engine rpm...it will do 7500 RPM wide open. pretty fast for a push-rod engine!!
