My grandpal has a rancher I've rode it a little bit. It goes just fine and he seem to like his pretty good.

I have an 05 rancher es. I ride very rocky trails both for recreation and for hunting. the rancher is a good all around atv.

Of the 4 quads hes looking at, they are all sra, but the rancher will feel more stable and sporty than any of the other 3. Thats the tradeoff of higher ground clearance. Honda builds them low to the ground on purpose.
I agree, irs has a much smoother softer ride, and gives alot more ground clearance, and is much easier on a person's back. And speaking of irs, kp20129, have you looked at an outlander 400? Its a racehorse and will smoke those other 4 quads, has irs, and a 'locking front diff' thats totally automatic. The ground clearance is much higher, and yet doesnt feel anywhere as tippy as the bruin. They are starting to look better in 06, and it has something the others dont have...a 5 year warentee. The other 4 have 6 months. Just something to throw out there, ive riden them, and they are very nice.
See if you can get a test ride on the choices, lots of dealerships will allow it, if they believe youre serious about buying.

Not a big yamaha fan. IMO the honda's are more reliable than the yamaha's.
Me neither but The Honda Dealer is like 30 or 40 mins away! There is a suzuki dealer right down the street! I am so desperate to ride an atv that i am gonna go down there and "test drive some atvs" I just hope I dont get hooked on a non-HONDA!!! I wanna go to all the dealers nearby and try out different brands so I know whats out there! Like Arctic Cat!

Yeah my dealer is about 30 minutes away from my house. But they sell let me see, Polaris, Honda, kawisaki, and Suzuki. And the Yamaha dealership is 5 minutes away from my dealer. I have an AC dealership like 20 minutes in the other dirrection from my house.

Thanks guys, never thought about the low ground clearance making the rancher more stable. For what I'm going to be using it for any of them would probably work. Leaning toward the rancher but we'll see.
