i have 1 x 6mm head bolt stripped out on my 400ex....the bolt is fine but the hole in the case is stripped..have seen people elude to this problem in other threads but how do you fix it...can it be fixed without pulling the head and cylinder....can i just leave it with the oil leaking past the head gasket?...jb weld?heli coil?i am very familer with 2strokes not so much with 4strokes.....

 

its hard to say without knowing what kind of mods you have done to your bike (440 is the main problem causer), and if you mean the head studs or cylinder bolts (never heard of anyone strippin out a cylinder bolt). when i went to my 440 kit i was teter totering between getting the bigger head studs or stay with the stock ones, well after about 3 months of riding i blew my first head gasket on my stock studs, tore it all down put another head gasket in and after 20 minutes of riding another gasket blown, come to find out the holes were so stripped out i couldnt even get the head nuts to torqe to their specs, so i went and bought another head gasket even though the last one was probably be re-useable, but i didnt want to take the risk for a $20 gasket and also go the bigger stud kit from GT Thunder put em in and havent had a problem yet (hard to say cause its only been a week), but from the looks of the old ones to the new ones i dont think i will have a problem. hope this helps, if not i will see if i can find some info on what you got goin on.
