Default Ranchet AT Oil Filter Question (maybe rincon rubicon too)

On my old Rancher 350 the oil filter had to go in a certain way as to not block the oil flow.. it was also stamped on the filter this side out.

I changed the oil on my new rancher AT last night and this was not stamped on the old filter nor the new one I bought.

Am I correct in saying it can go on either way?

I ordered a manual but its not here till next week.

Also, anyone know the oil required after oil and filter?

Thanks.

The filter will go in either way, it doesn't matter. Just don't forget the washer that goes between the filter and spring. It likes to stick to the filter and if you don't know its there it will end up in the garbage with the filter. I bet 1/3 of the oil changes I do w/ that type of filter set up, the washer is missing. The part number is 15414-300-000 which I know by heart, which is sad if you think about it.

Rancher AT holds about 3 quarts w/ filter change.

is that the way the 400AT is? I know on my 350 you CANNOT put the oil filter in backwards, or it will block oil flow and possibly ruin the engine. I only use the Honda filters, and they've always been stamped.

That's right Quick. The filter I use, K&N, has a rubber seal like the Honda elements that goes to the outside. There is a bypass valve in the filter that will open when the filter gets clogged enough to reduce oil flow, at least the K&N element does.

The filter on the 400AT is twice as big and will go on either way, its the same filter as the Rubicon and Rincon. The 350 filter can only be installed one way or engine damage will occurr.
