Default 450r help!!

hey everyone new to the forum well first off my 04 450r was stolen in november of '05 and the police actully found it yesterday, someone was riding it down the highway a few counties away so first off im glad to have my quad back. however there is some damage (which i havn't seen yet im out of town for business). On to my question the quad was stock and now i geuss is the best time to start work. i mostly ride trail but i do go to the track for fun. im wanting opnions on the 480cc and 500cc bore kits for the quads. also what else do i need? im sure it was ragged on pretty bad so im wanting to tear it all down. i was thinking new clutch, cam, exhaust and the bore kit? what are you opinions and whos products do you prefer? sorry for the long post
thanks

your not kidding! now is the time to start working on it. you better check that thing out throughly- even the tranny - take it to the honda shop....the theives dont care and prob ran the hell out of it with no oil changing going on...if it is running now, it may be on the verge of a problem. safegaurd yourself and have it checked out.

as far as the kits go, i have an '04 and if i was to go big bore i was leaning toward the athena 480 kit. ive heard alot of good things about it, plus it is not a bad price.

hotcams are pretty good, i see lot of people use them in all makes of bikes without any problems.
exhaust- every exhaust manufacturer claims being the best but you may want to check out ct, rossier, LRD, white bros, yoshimura, etc...get a hinson or another good heavy duty clutch to handle the extra power. if you have extra money you may want to its NOT necessary (rejetting is though) you may want to look into the edlebrock carb- they are nice )but pricey) and make jetting changes a little easier. get a uni air filter too.

dont know if you will NEED all this stuff b/c chances are your exhaust is still ok, but if you want to do the 480 or 500 kit you have to toss it and one mod works better with more mods... but you prob know that. ..

when you are done, send the bill to the theives!

yeah im sure they took real good care of it! i hate people that steal!! anyways i wont be back home for over a week i had my gf go pick it up yesterday at the impound(i had to pay for that also over $200) i will more than likely replace the clutch, install cam, jets and exhaust but i want the big bore so i figure while its all apart do as much as i can afford. i will definatley be going to court but whether i see any money is another story. im not the best mechanic so i cant do all of this myself but i have some friends that work on quads all the time. but i geuss i can take it to any honda dealer and have them look at it? have any idea how much something like that would cost?

You can get pretty much everything you'll want off of ebay.
I have a Hotcam stage II, Uni filter, Cut open airbox lid and an FMF Q2 slip-on. I have also rejetted the carb.
I am seriously thinking of getting the Athena 480 big bore bolt on. You can get that on ebay too.
You will probably have to put on new brake pads, check your sprockets, shocks and oil and filter.
Even if the thieves didn't do maitenance on it, it's a pretty reliable quad.
Good luck with it.
