I am not familiar with these tires in particular but common sense tells me that If I ride on mostly trails I would go with the less aggressive tire. If you ride in mud a lot or snow something where a more aggressive tread is beneficial then go with the more aggressive tire.
Not 100% sure but don't ranchers come with a 25" in the rear and a 24" in the front ? If so I would continue with the different sizes to keep your drivetrain happy.
