I was wonderin if anyone has had any problems with the quad. I am lookin at buying it for the parents to use around the house. Looking for brand new, and lookin to not spend over 4 grand. Thanks for the input.

I have a 1998 Recon that I bought new I never had a single problem with it, Until I bought a new Rubicon in December, Then I think she got mad at me and I had to replace the original Battery. Great little quad I am over 300 lbs and it hauled me and numerous deer and a blackbear out of the woods. I just wanted a bigger quad and kept the Recon for my wife to ride.

Judging from what I saw my neighbor put his 05 Recon through, they are a tough atv! His went out on weekends many times and came back mud brown with no traces of it's red color showing. He bought it back in July, got into financial trouble and sold it to an old man across the road from us for 1200 dollars.
He had flipped it and bent the handlebars, gutted the muffler and put some odd-ball tires on the rear.
The man that bought has since repaired the bars and replaced the muffler.
It is a tough machine!

we have had 6 rubicons at my families feedyard, i put 15690 on my 2001 before selling it and its life wasnt go 4to6inches of sh*t most of its life the only problems is if you start bogging and shift into low at about 45mph pinned. We us them as horse so if we had to get ruff with them we did. On a guess we rode each quad 2to3 hours a day flaw less. If the cattle turn it might got shifted/ slammed from reverse to drive all day long . get the warenty because the computer went bad on the 2004 . I will by them 10 to 1 on any quad we have tried them all. Honda is the toughest out there. We got a new suzuki /favorite brand 700 king quad . It ripps hard but bad plastic. Polarust lasted about a month. So if you treat it good it should last alife time.

I have had three of them now and I just love to ride them I got my first one in 1998 and it was a great atv and then got one in 2003 and also got a rubicon in 2003 and I rode the recon more then the rubicon my wefe always said I got it for myself not for her. then we just got new 2005s in oct. and I still use the recon more around the yard it is easy to monuver. I had a winch laying around so I mounted that on there to add a little wate on the front for her so when we ride she dint like how lite the front end was so I put that on and she said it was a lot better we also use the winch around the yard works great I never have regretid the recon there great little atvs for all around.

I can't believe its almost been 7 years that we have had are 99 recon, great machine with no problems and its still on the original battery. The only wear item that I can see on are's is the front tires are in the tread wear indicator but heck the recon has many, many hours on it. I have not ridden a newer recon but the front brakes take a lot of pressure to get them to stop you. The recon is very fuel efficient and will run forever on a tank of gas. Out of the machines that we have the recon is my favorite point A to point B if I want to move around on the property quickly. You can also get a rear hitch and every once in awhile I will load up the small trailer with rock and the recon has no problem pulling it. I have gotten my monies worth out of this machine and if it dies tommorow I would go purchase another one.
