There is a 50% chance that I'll get a 400ex this weekend so i'll need to buy a full frame and swing arm skid plate(gotta protect that frame!) Any sugestions! I would like opinions from people who HAVE a certain brand of skidplate.....

I have PRM on my 400EX, and love them.... plus it's hard to beat the price, considerably less than some of the other brands. some pics of my skids check them out!

I have the equiptment listed below. The Baja skids seem ok, overpriced maybe, but good quality material. If you get them, dont overtighten the screws, or else they strip out the skidplate (only aluminum.) also will rattle excessively if this happens(a buddy did this, I learned from his mistake) The Rear swingarm guard is a "Speed" racing brand, better price thatn baja, and looks like better quality welds. Always go alumionum unless all you see is sand. That plastic garbage is usless when it gets cold and meets a rock or stump. The OMF(?) brand looks pretty slick also, but iveonly seen a rear swingarm guard from them.
I buy through Magic Racing in Michigan (810)254-9117 and they have quite a few diff brands in stock. Good Luck.

01trx400ex,

How long did it take for PRM to ship out the skids. Also, what was the shipping cost. I have been looking at different brands trying to choose which has the best product.

I would go with PRM if I were you, I have complete Prm skids on my raptor. You cant beat there quality and price. Shipping charge is not to bad I think I paid $240 for everthing A-arm skids frame skid and swing arm skid and shipping it worth it they are very durable. I've talked to a couple of people who have 400ex's and they have to take there swing arm skids off and pound them back to shape after riding if they hit something so go with PRM and you shouldnt have any problems!

I too was thinking about getting a set of full skid plates for my 400ex but had a couple of questions. First is it a big pain to clean out the dirt and debris that get trapped in them especially between the plate and the frame or is it as simple as just hosing it out after riding. Secondly are they really worth the $200-$300 investment? Most of the riding that I do is in the woods so I would think they would be but am not sure. Thanks

For the A-arm skids, and the frame skid it came to 133.90, but that included a $20 charge for UPS 3rd day shipping so I could have them for the weekend.
