how to ride a wheelie??? depends on what kind of wheelie .. my buddy can ride for miles with just staying in 2nd gear and playing with the brake. I cant do it that way! i ride one flying through the gears till i am hitting the rev limiter in 5th. if ya fall off once 1 of 2 things will happen. #1 you wont ever let go of the handle bars again and keep practicing or #2 it will hurt like heck and you wont ever try it again...the latter happened to a friend of mine who fell off the back in 4th on a blaster and got drug behind it for about 100 yards. we learned by first just sitting there popping the clutch and bringin it back down...then riding it through 1st gear..when ya get that just start practicing going up a gear you will have it in no time!

I'm not a 400EX owner, but how can you guys wheelie sitting?? I just have the feeling I'm falling!! Is it much harder standing up (both feet on the pegs)? Will the standard grab bar of a banshee be enough to keep it vertical and not go upside down?
Admiration the wheelie kings (I get the front end up, but goes down as fast as it came up -that's too fast-).

I can get my 300ex topped out in 5th on a wheelie. The bad part is the wind really likes to grab those fenders and mess with you.My 250r is a simple as blipping the throttle and holding on!My blaster all I have to do is lean back a little and blip the throttle. It is so short though. The main thing about wheelie's is knowing when to use the rear brakes.I have ruined a good day of riding by not knowing when to use rear brakes and flipping backwards breaking my whip flag.Another thing is U have to shift gears. On my 300ex if U don't it goes right back down.Wheelie's are fun especially if you do it while passing someone in a race!

There is a pic of me on my web site poping a wheelie on my 300ex.

I know it might now work 100% of the time but when i'm doin a wheelie on my foreman in 3rd gear and i feel the front end wanting to come over backwards i just shift my weight up a little bit towards the gas tank and that helps the front end slow from comming back and i can just play with the gas from there.

it just takes practice..

on my 300ex, i just start in second..pop the clutch, and work on finding the balance point..and just keep it there.

takes a lot of practice, i still can't shift in a wheelie..

question for the guys who shift in a wheelie..do you use the clutch or not? me and all of my riding buddies dont b/c it takes to long to pull the clutch and shift...i know we probably will have to put a new clutch in but hey...you arent havin fun unless you break something...just curious

The safest way to learn wheelies without going too far is with a six-pack rack. www.rockymountainatv.com Carries the Armadillo brand rack which doesn't require any welding on the 400EX unlike the PRM brand, it looks good too. Unlike the DG brand.
