broken shifter

has anyone purchased a pro design shifter for a 400ex and the shift shaft breaks off flush w/shifteR.i wonder if i got a bad shift shaft or did i get the shaft.

I got a Pro Design shifter. Did the shifter break or the shaft? Nac's sells a shaft collar that keeps the chain away from the shaft. You can never be too cautious when it comes to your chain.

THE SHIFT SHAFT BROKE RIGHT BEHIND THE SHIFTER DIDN'T KNOW IF IT WAS FROM SHIFTER,CHAIN,OR JUST PLAIN OLE'ABUSE.THX FOR INFO ABOUT COLLAR FROM NACS,I WAS GOING BACK TO OEM BUT REALLY LIKED THE PRO DESIGN.

Looks like you get to split the case...

The shaft is designed to break there if it gets stressed so that it has less chance of damaging the case...
