1.) 0 to 1/4 (while driving) then shut it down-do not let the rpms down, hit the kill switch.
2.)1/4 to 1/2 (while driving) then shut it down-do not let the rpms down, hit the kill switch.
3.)1/2 to 3/4 (while driving) then shut it down-do not let the rpms down, hit the kill switch.
4.) 3/4 to full (while driving) then shut it down-do not let the rpms down, hit the kill switch.
#4 will tell you if you need to go up or down with the main jet. Too dark go leaner, too light go richer.
#3 will tell you if the needle needs to be adjusted (if it's adjustable on yours) Too dark, move clip up (or remove spacer) too light, move clip down (or add
spacer)
#2 will tell you if you need a bigger pilot jet. Too dark go leaner, too light go richer.
#1 will tell you if the pilot screw needs to be adjusted. Too dark, turn screw in. Too light, turn screw out. This is usually opposite on 2 strokes. If the air/fuel
screw is between throttle slide and motor, it usually regulates fuel flow(out richer). If the air/fuel screw is between throttle slide and air cleaner, it usually
regulates air(out leaner).
Main jet and pilot jet (Range #4 and 2) should be determined first. This will give you the max size it should be, then adjust your other 2 settings.
I couldn't quite remember the ranges properly before, that's why I only stated 3. I had to think about it for a minute. It will take you a bit of time to tune it this way, but it should run like a top once you've got it adjusted.
PS Another quick way to determine if it's too lean, when your running it start choking it. If it starts dieing right away, your either good in that range or already rich. If it starts running better as you choke it, then goes worse again as you get to full choke then you're lean but close. If it runs best at full choke
then you're way too lean.

If your not familiar with reading diagrams, it will be a pain to locate it, but it should be on the motor side of the carb on the bottom. It may have a brass plug that would need to be drilled out ,slowly. Be careful drilling this out. Maybe an 1/8" below the plug is the screw. If you hit it, you could strip it out. If you do hit it and it's still usable, remember that when you hit it, it probably turned all the way in.
