Let me start by saying thanks to everyone for your help. Also, let me clear the air about a few things. First and foremost, I have nothing against the Polaris, except it was my first quad and I spent more time hitting trees than turning on the trails. This was only two years ago, so I don't think they have changed that much since. I have arthritis in neck, ergo, I do not have much power in my hands and arms. This year I bought a Recon, I loved it! But... because of the riding we do and the non-sport suspension the Recon has, I spent alot of time on my butt! I got bumped off everytime I hit a rock or a stump. I just cannot hold on. I really need a good suspension to help me hang on. I have ridden my hubby's 400EX (would love to have that quad) except my hand gets sore from trying to shift. I would love if the 250EX was different from my Recon, but it would have to be a really big change in suspension. Otherwise, I think I will go with the Lakota. Keep the information coming. Thanks!

For the new EX, Honda gave the motor higher compression ratios, new valve timing, and bigger intake vavles. The quad weighs 50 lbs. lighter than the Recon.

Me and my four buddies ride our lawn ornaments every weekend, and have yet to experience any problems.

Hi cstark, you seem to know alot about the Honda 250EX. Where do you find your information, and can it be found on the web? I really want a Honda, but the hubby doesn't think the 250 will have good enough suspension for me. If I can find more information then maybe I can convince him to wait til January when the new 250's come out. Any help is still appreciated!

Have you installed a steering stabilizer on anything you have ridden? It might help with the arms and shoulders.

lil girl blue, you mentioned in your earlier posts that you have difficulty with turning. you can reduce some of your steering effort by raising the pressure in your front tires. the downside to this is it will give a little harsher ride. this should apply to most quads. hope i helped.

Hey YZGUY. I have thought about the steering stablizer, but when I tried to find one for my Recon no one knew anything about them. I did find one on a old used 250R that may have worked, but no one knew how to put it on. I have now convinced my hubby to wait for the new 250EX to come out. I sent him pictures of the 250-300-&400EX to compare and he thinks they have changed quite a bit on the 250EX. I hope so, looks like such a cool quad and I like my hondas.
Maybe if I get the 250 I will see if I can get a stablizer put on that. That is... if I have the problems that I have had in the past.
Ride Red!

yeah but to be honest I am a die hard Polaris man but Honda's steer easier, the 250EX is lighter than the Recon even so it should have incredibly light steering they did tweak the motor to get more power says so right on the Honda web page. January is not to far away. it has shaft drive a must if you ask me.

look at the specs on the web page. I ride with allot of 5 year or older Polaris machines, longevity is not a problem. You know to bad we could not help this person out with out having to bash eachother. she wants an answer not a bunch of people fighting over beat to death issues. Kawsaki Prairies steer very easy and ride great. and a 300 2x4 is not to much more than a 250EX and it is totally auto. I actually want one a low cost sporty machine good gas mileage, good looks. it is a winner and honda will sell tons of them

You are right about that xepathfinder. I would never bash anyones quad. I have had the Honda and the Polaris, and both are great. Each quad has it own merits and both are very reliable. I have never had any mechanical problems with either. I think it all depends on how you maintain them. If you take care and ride light like I do, they will last a lifetime. I do think I need to change my name now. I was blue... but now I think I will have a choice come January. Hubby has 400EX and we were thinking of MiniMeEX... LOL
Thanks for everyones help again.
