Default 250R HELP!!!!!

I need some solid advice, I have an 89 Honda 250r, with all the goodies including Lagers chassis, it's been kinda sitting through this whole 4 stroke revolution. Is it worth keeping? Am I still going to be able to get parts for it(engine, cables, misc) or should I just try to sell it. I'm not racing, just pit riding and going to get one for my son. I have read a ton of posts on the "R" but no real solid awnsers. I would like to actually spend the extra money on the boy's machine and keep it, but 4 or 5 years down the road it it still going to be fixable and replacable for me to use as a recreational toy? Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Bryan

Default 250R HELP!!!!!

motoman0011,

Here is the way I look at dilemmas like this. If you already own it, then keep it. You never know when you will need to use the ATV, but it is usually after one sells it. I can count numerous times when this very thing happened to me. Sold some toys that I never should have. Now I could kick myself ever time I think about what I have done. And as far as parts for older toys there is always somewhere you can find them be it new or used. Unless you need the money to purchase a new toy keep it.

Here is a place to see what kind of parts you can get for now.

Microfiche

I know this is just one person's opinion but from now on I am going to keep everything I own. I will only sell my toys if it is necessary.

Good luck.

SB.

Default 250R HELP!!!!!

Keep it... There is more 250R engine development now than ever. The aftermarket companies now are specializing in the newer fourstrokes for items such as bumpers, nerfs, plastic and others, but the mechanical items on the 250R are still very popular. All of the components for the 250R have either been reproduced, are still OEM available, or have been replaced by better suited components. The cables are very plentiful, the engine components are readily available and the chassis components are still being produced. Just because it's out of the lime-light doesn't mean you can't get parts...

Default 250R HELP!!!!!

Thanks for the responses so far, I guess I see how it goes, when parts get slim, I'll sell it for whatever I can get for it and go 450
