simple noob Q's , thx200sx
got my first ATV (1986 thx200sx) and have a few simple questions .
1 , where is the oil drain plug ? i looked all over and cant seem to find it ?
2 , what weight 4 cycle oil should i use ?
3 , there is no level check for the trans fluid ? how do i know if it is full and what weight gear oil should i use in it ?
sorry for the noob questions , i just want to make sure i can keep the 20yr old beast running great like it is ....

1- Under the engine about in the middle of the crankcase (Normally where the case split)
2- I'd say 10w30, 10w40 or 20w50 if it's leaking
3- Never checked a 200sx....check in the manual or it's maybe written on your engine how much to puts in
Hope it helps,,,

cool , thanks .. i ended up using valvoline 4 cycle 10w40 and it took about 2qt . turns out the drain is on the left side of the crank case and the dip stick is on the right , this made me think the drain on the left was for the trans . i am guessing that the oil i put in will lube everything ? am i correct or is there a separate trans fluid i need to do ? also on the left side of the crank case there is cap that you can remove with a screw driver , what is this for ? when i look down it there is a gear with teeth but i dont see any type of fluid ..

99% of 4 stroke atv motors use the same oil to lube the tranny along w/ the engine. The exception is the TRX450R which is set up like a 2-stroke w/ seperate oil for the tranny and engine.
The cap on the left side you are refering to is probably the timing mark cap. You use it to check ignition timing and for finding top dead center when adjusting your valves.
