Because they were designed to dominate where they are dominating. With that being said, I am completely unbiased. I actually prefer the yfz for the trails. I've ridden both. The yfz comes stock set up for the general trail rider. The ltr comes stock set up for the general racer. Personally, I plan on getting the kfx450r (if the price is good on them) that is coming out in the spring. I chose mine because it was in the right price range, had reverse, and it's a sport quad.

 

YFZ a trail quad? I need some of that which you are smoking! Everything about the yfz is untrail friendly. Its not comfortable, lacks bottom end torque, rides too stiff, no reverse. Everything opposite of a worthy trail quad. It was designed for mx racing. It dominated until the LTR came out. And I'm biased hugh? Have you ever watched a drag race between a LTR and a yfz? My buddy has one, spend 39 bucks on a cherry bomb, remove air lid and spark arrester and watch the YFZs lose. I know you yamaha faithful hate it and don't want to face reality, but I have seen it with my own eyes. By the way which magazine are you getting you info from? They all are biased toward one brand. I picked up 3 magazines at one time, read the articles when the LTR was released (LTR vs. 450R vs. YFZ) and each one had a different winner. But anyway, everyone has an opinion.

 

Speedyman.... you laughing at my z250? You have something you wanna line up with me on? My 250 is not the only bike I have. Plus if my kfx loses (I doubt) I got a 498cc stroked/big bored LTR450 in my garage that is quite nasty. So go ahead and laugh (at yourself).
