Also note than the only time top speed is used would be on a dirt road or a field. If you ride trails I don't see anyone ever hitting top speed on a trail. And all the new 450's are badass just buy one a ride don't fight about whos is faster just race.
top speed not everything especially in drag racein on dirt it takes a rider with the b*lls to go full throtle and shift the gears with out bein scared of its rarein back on u and stay back far enough on the seat to get good traction i went back on the drag strips we got where i live and there ain't nothing stock that has beat me cuz i get them out of the wholeshot and stay on the throttle and the top speed on the ltr is around 73 to 75 but i took the baffel and the air box lid offa mine but ive raced 450r's yfz 450s and 660's raptors 700 kfx's and raptors 400 ex's 500 predators and none of them could beat me draggin with out have lots of mods i beat 2 450r's with stage 2 cams 13:1 pistons full exhaust sytems jets and air filter and my tires where almost bald and one of them had brand new whole shots and i beat them 5 out of 6 times racein the 1st day we raced went back up there this past weekend and be its 5 straight times now they r goin to put a 520 big bore kit in it juss to outrun a stock ltr 450 so how u love it when people talk about stuff they don't know u must love ur self
an awful lot cuz seems like ur talkin alot about it there is noway that that 400ex with a pipe could out run the ltr if the 450r can't with all of those mods the person that was ridein the ltr either can't drive or there is sumtin seriously wrong with it take it from sum1 who rides almost every day and drag races every weekend prolly over a 100 times a day i run with anything that wants to race me weather i know they r gonna beat me or not juss to have fun and say i have raced this or that and see how i do

It takes 0 skill to top out a quad and hold it there. And I swear the LTR450 tops out no more than 70mph. How do you get 73mph. I don't belive it. When a 400ex passes a LTR450 there is no way the 450 is going 73mph. You must be one of those retarted kids that thinks a bone stock 450 with 18" tires tops out at 73, 75mph. I have seen the LTR450 get stomped on all day long on a straight drag down the road. The track is a different story. We have done several runs with the LTR450 and it is not a drag quad stock. Now with cherry bomb, full exhaust, 20" tires and lid off air box you are talkin a nice quad for drags and track. But bone stock I have yet to see the LTR climb over 70mph. If it does 73-75mph the TRX must do 80+ because the TRX leaves it behind bad.

well when im on the LTR and there is a ford ranger right behind me havein to do 75 juss to stay with me i say it does more than 70 goin down a main highway road i say thats how i get 73 cuz when it was goin 70 i was pullin away from it and if u juss put a cherry bomb on an ltr it will gain prolly to over 80 mile an hour they r governored so bad it ain't funny u don't have a 4th of ur throttle in 5th gear because it will rev out if u hold it full throttle u have to back of about a half inch for it to quit revin out and trying to cut out

and if im one of those stupid kids that i add has an ltr 450 paid for in cash the day i went to go get it has raced fourwheelers and dirt bikes from the time i as around 4 and will smoke u anytime at anykind of race that u wanna race all u gotta do is come on down to west virginia and let sum of us good ole boys show u how to ride a fourwheeler so u can quit tryin to ride one and act like u know more about one than sum1 who owns one and rides everyday on it and do u even have a fourwheeler or r u one of the lil people who sit on the bed of ur truck or rides up there with a friend and juss watches people ride cuz thats what it seems like and this thread ain't on juss top speed its on how the two fourwheelers match up and i garuntee u that a trx ain't gonna out run a ltr on a track or in a dirt drag strip 400 feet or shorter an ltr is geared for bottom and mid range power hence track ready out of box and what is the most important part of drag racein bottom end and midrange i can be at top speed b4 i get a lil over past halfway down the drag strip that means to other fourwheelers i race has to do over 70's sum miles an hour long enough to catch me and pass me by the time i juss got about another 150 feet, unless the rider on the ltr sucks and the one on the trx is goo4d i have raced about 15 trx's now and after i took out my baffle from my stock pipe and my air box lid off i have not had one out run me unless they jumped the gun and took off early or i juss missed a gear or was juss not hookin up good out of the whole shot and i know a 400 ex with juss a pipe won't outrun a ltr i have a friend that i can throw a football to his front yard from myne that has a 400ex with a pipe system a k&n air filter and jetted and i play with him i come out in 3rd gear juss so he has a chance to keep up with me and he has still never beat me even when me and him swop i can't come even close to him and i run his 400 as hard as it will go and he does the same to mine so u either need to find sum1 with an ltr that can ride or quit gettin on here talkin bout a boy that prolly has never rode a sport fourwheeler in his life tryin to drag people that can actully ride hell i can give sum people a fourwheeler that should beat me everytime and i will smoke them everytime juss cuz they don't know how to ride it and shift the gears or r to scared to ride it out

I'm sorry, but I just don't see a 450R or 400EX getting near an LTR450 on a short drag.
Not without some good mods.
If I'm wrong about that, I'd be absolutely floored, because I would expect more out of the LTR450.
The 450R's were never able to stay with my YFZ450 on short drags or anything with plenty of turns.
But they could run me down and pass me on a long run. (probably do the same to the LTR450)
The 450R has the top speed, that's for sure.

finally some1 who knows what they r talkin about seems they actully have a sport fourwheeler unlike jp0wns, but yea ur right the 450r has top speed over the ltr but thats the only thing i have raced stock and modified 450rs and in a long enough drag strip they can catch me but it its 400ft or shorter they don't have a chance if i time my gears right and im gettin ready to go to 19 inch wholeshots mxr4 and go up one size on my rear rims also and put a yoshi silencer every1 i talked to said putting a header pipe on doesn't help its circumference is no bigger than the stock one and the stock one is titanium and all of the after market headers are stainless steal and weigh alot more than ur stock header pipe but i say after up on the tires and add the pipe and put a cherry bomb and K&N air filter and find a good fuel injection system that i like my ltr will get the trx on top speed cuz the people from the zuki shop told me a cherry bomb would give me about 7-9 more mph that would put me right at or over 80 and after goin up on the tires and addin the other mods and maybe goin down on more tooth on my rear cog i could get well over 85 easily but that would be gearin it to high after goin up a tire size and down one tooth on the cog

I don't think the Tmay4 read my statement all the way through before he went crazy. I for one have been riding since about 10 and own a z400. I really wanted the new LTR450 until I saw that it really wasn't any quicker BONE STOCK than the other 450's out there. I rode it myself and cannot say that I was overly impressed. I would recommend that bike for MX only and thats exactly what it is meant for. I never once stated that the LTR450 lost in a 400ft or less drag. Its beyond the the 400ft that I am talkin about. So i don't understand why you got your panties in a bunch. Of course someone that owns an LTR450 is gonna defend it like its a family member. I even stated that the track is a different story for the LTR450. Meaning that it will stomp on all the other 450's stock for stock on the track depending on rider. Don't miss understand my statement the LTR450 is a sick quad nice low stance, wide, long travel suspension, and nice aggressive looks it handles like no other quad out there, but to say that it has a high top speed compared to 450r and yfz450 is rediculous. I have raced my close friends LTR450 myself along with others against 450r's and yfz450's and the honda and the yamaha definately pull ahead on the long stretch. Basicly I am stating that a honda or a yamaha might be more ideal for the everyday riders or road racers which there are a lot of out there. I personaly would take the new kfx450 over them all. Lightweight all aluminum frame, reverse, and 20" tires make it a better overall quad IN MY OPINION.

I also wanted to note that I have no doubt that with new silencer, air box lid off, cherry bomb, and larger tires the LTR450 could beat the other 450's. I am stating to those out there who think that a LTR450 stock is overall a faster quad its not. The 18" tires vs the 20" on the honda and yamaha limit its top speed. So don't be disapointed if you get one and race even your buddies 400ex down the road and he pulls slightly ahead. I also would not spend money on a new header pipe because aftermarket isn't any larger. New silencer would help alot. Im not knocking the LTR450 is has a very solid powerplant and is definately the leader on track.

I wanted one when I got the YFZ.
But for me, it's just not a practical ride. The YFZ wasn't either with the extra width added.
But if I could have two sport quads... like something for the tight stuff... then something *****-to-the-walls letting it all hang out.
Bet your @ss I'd have myself an R450.
But that's dreamland for me.... wish I had that kind of money to put into ATV's.
