400ex problem

Default 400ex problem

my 400ex wont shift....what could possibly be the problem here...any help would be great...thanks

Have you checked with your local dealer to see if your quad was effected by the recall that came out a couple of months ago? It was a recall on some parts in the tranny effecting 1st gear and reverse..

Hmmm, no recall on the '04s. Is there oil in it? What do you mean it ain't shifting, is it stuck in gear, stuck in nuetral?

some times if i keep pumping the shifter it will shift but other than that it wont shift...its not stuck in any gear

could be the shift fork inside the tranny. Not all that common on a 400ex but it does happen.

Make sure your shifter isn't bent though and rubbing the case.

Does it have an angle sensor on it? I had the same problem with my Rancher it is an automatic but it ended up that there was nothing wrong with the tranny at all it was the angle sensor.

bent shift forks are real common on the 400's. most likely you have a bent shift fork
