no dont get me wrong there both great i would prob actually just get the rincon thats awesome for that cheap i would just talk to your wife about the 250ex and figure out what would be best to buy right now but about the rincon i think you should get it because its bigger then the rancher and cheaper but the 06 rancher is newer i would go check both out and see which one you like better power wise and comfortablility wise

I take it you dont thing the Rincon 03 with 500 miles is a good choice?
I know someone that just picked up a new 05 Rincon for $6K at Troy Honda, which isn't that far from you.
Are you talking about a Foreman ES 500 for $5190? I'd buy new. I'd check Troy's prices.

yes I think its too much if you are buying the Rincon alone, top dollar considering what they were letting the 05 go for new. Rincon is nice, but the 03s were a first year model and had a few problems (water pump seal for one). No warranty either. For what you've said you're going to do with it and once you're spending that much, I would be going for the new Foreman 500. They advertise the ES for $4999. Won't ride as nice or be a fast (after the spring mod for the Rincon carb), but the Foreman has front discs and low while the Rincon doesn't.
Having two quads is a double edged sword. Get the right deal on the package and accept you may have an issue with the Rincon and someone else might wreck your other quad - or buy new.
They also have a black Vinson auto for a pretty good price (if it's clean).

the best deal I could find was Albany Honda, 06 Foreman ES $5,190. I am going to take your advice and buy new. I dont need a 650 cc machine, the wife isnt happy but agreed new is better. I just cant believe you only get a 6 month warranty on these machines..

well good luck with the new machine. if your's is anything like mine, you won't need the warranty. New price is worth the piece of mind to me.
I'll be driving through Schenectady when I head up to GSL in two weeks. Can't wait!

looking at an 03 Rincon 650 with 350 miles. Has a 2"lift kit, full skid plates, heated grips, hand guards, front brush guards, winch, rear carrier. It was setup to use for hunting, and I think it went once or twice and the guy sold it to his buddy, who has had it for 8 months and hardly uses it, so he is asking $4,800.
What should I look for that could be wrong? I saw something about water pump. What else?
03 was the first year Rincon? What was breaking? What has changed?

The water pump was the most common problem on the 03. the weep hose would get full of crap that would get into the seals. They came out with a different weep hose in 04. Some 03s had problems with the transmission "o" rings. They switched to a different material for those.
