Default '00 honda 300ex question

Hello,

Today I just bought my first atv, a 2000 honda 300ex. everything on it is stock except for the exhaust, it has a FMF pipe. i'm wanting to check/replace all of the fluids in this atv, i know how to change the oil, and the air filter. My question is where do I check the brake fluid, also is there clutch/transmission fluid and where is the place it could be checked at? I am mechanically incline, I have searched all over this atv and cannot find the places to check these fluids. Thanks to everyone taking the time to read my post and I surely appreciate any help/suggestions.

well i feel really stupid but i just figured out that the same oil that lubricates my engine lubs the tranny too. besides that oil and the break fluid, is there any other fluid that needs changed(maybe clutch?)

First off, your 300 has an "integrated" engine/transmission. That means, your engine and trans SHARE THE SAME OIL. (Only the Honda TRX450R and the Honda CRF250/450 dirt bikes have the engine and trans oils seperated.......God bless Honda!).

So, it is impotrant that you use a motorcycle specific oil that is meant to lube a transmission as well as an engine. The oil needs to contain high pressure additives to protect high pressure areas like the teeth of your gears (car oils don't have these), and your cam. Pick an oil that is motorcycle specific, API SG/JASO MA.

Good oil aritcle: http://www.thumperfaq.com/oil.htm

Your brake fluid should last for years, and your clutch shouldn't need anything until it finally wears out and needs to be replaced.
