Default honda recon muffler

I have a 04 recon that i got over the muffler in mud and it has a completly differnt sound now is it possible to ruin the packing of the muffler or is the stock muffle even packed? What muffle would be a good upgrade for more low to mid range power? Thanks.

It might be worth your while to pull the drain plug out of it first and see what comes out. =]

I did that and nothing came out. Its just so much louder than stock that i would like to get something for more power and quieter running.

More power and loud goes had in hand to my knowledge. Even your quiet core aftermarket pipes are still louder than stock. If you want more power it is going to be louder there is no way around it that I know of.

just about all aftermarket pipes are louder, the stock honda muffler is pretty restrictive for emissions and noise level reasons.

There are lots of manufacturers of pipes out there, just look around.

The FMF powerline muffler is maintenance free, no packing to blow out, that's an idea if you want more power and dont want to worry too much if you submerge it again

yeah i realized that after i read RancherATCrazy's reply. The power line does seem like a good deal to not have to pack it and since alot of the mud holes around here are deep.

On this subject, can the muffler be repacked? I have a 99 recon that has gotten loud and my wife wants to quiet it down, (her Quad now ), but I do not like the prices of new mufflers for this thing.

i dont think the stock mufle can be repacked since its welded together and doesnt have a a removable end cap like after market pipes.
